New airline to service Manila

Jetstar Asia Airways

Jetstar Asia Airways, the second budget international carrier to service the Philippines. (The first budget airline is Cebu Pacific). Starting 27 April 2005 this Singapore based airline will fly between Singapore and Manila.

Fares start from USD 193.00 return (roundtrip) or about SGD 99.00 (fare only and one way from Singapore) including most taxes and charges. I'm not sure if the PHP 1,620.00 Philippine travel tax is included if you buy return tickets.

This type of airline is quite innovative for the Philippines. Traditionally, Filipinos book and pay for their air travel using various travel agents. Although Jetstar would alse sell its tickets through traditional agents it will extensively use its call centre and website to sell its tickets.
